Steph Casey is a former Horowhenua College student who is now a singer-songwriter based on the Kapiti Coast. Her sound is a mix of indie-folk/pop, americana and soul, and her debut album Whisper & Holler went straight to #4 in the NZ Indie Album charts and #8 in the NZ Album Charts upon release. Three of the songs on the album were semi-finalists in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest and the remaining nine received Commended Entry. The judges are Grammy, BRIT and CMA Award winning producers and artists, and over 7000 entries are submitted each year.

Whisper & Holler received glowing international reviews and Steph won the People’s Choice Award at the 2013 Wellington Folk festival. Steph has a strong international following on soundcloud.com with 250,000 plays and over 7,000 followers. She has been invited to the USA to record her second album with internationally acclaimed record producer Jason Rubal (The Cure, Amanda Palmer, Robert Smith) in April 2016. Her musical influences are Over the Rhine, Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier, The Civil Wars, Anika Moa, The Swell Season.

Steph plays with Alan Galloway (Let’s Planet) on second guitar, and Hanne Jostensen (also a published singer-songwriter) on backing vocals.
