April 9 – The Madillionaires

Here is our April 2021 newsletter to enjoy.  It can also be found under Downloads – Newsletters.  Looking forward to our April Guests:

The Madillionaires; Peter Madill, Jude Madill, and Joseph Coleman, three generations of the same family, plus Jenny Kilpatrick, original Madillionaires’ band member and kazoo soloist extraordinaire. Combining dynamic and diverse musical styles with strong vocal harmonies they perform original songs as well as a wide range of music from elsewhere.

As well as having four vocalists, The Madillionaires play guitars, fiddle, accordion, banjo, octave mandolin, bass and attitude.

The Madillionaires will entertain you with songs of heroism and hardship, murder and survival, loves lost and won. You will be regaled with re-imagined ballads of yesteryear and hear tell of more recent times as well.   A fun concert to involve you too!

Doors open at 7pm and the compere will take names for the blackboard which starts at 7:30 pm.  After a light supper, our guests The Madillionaires!!!  Any donated baking is always appreciated, cost is $10 public/$5 members/$3 students.  All very welcome.

March 12 – Ronel Hunter Singer/Songwriter

After Covid prevented Ronel’s debut concert at LFMC in 2020, we are thrilled to have her travel up from the South Island to weave her lovely songs for us.  Come along and enjoy the early concert at 7:30 pm – doors open at 7pm.  After supper, there will be the usual open mic which provides a variety of musical talents.  Hope to see you there!

Xmas Social and Barry & The Crumpets

Xmas Social and Barry & The Crumpets

Looking ahead to our Xmas social and hope you can make it!   There will be a blackboard to start the evening with an extended supper – plates of special baking especially appreciated.   Bring extra cash for raffles and lots of luck to you all!  Cost is $5 to all (students $3) so your guests are most welcome too.

Barry and the Crumpets – a newish band, Barry and the Crumpets are a foot-stomping, barn-romping country dance extravagance. Young people playing old-time classics, breakneck bluegrass and swampy blues. All played toe-tapping fast and knee-slapping rowdy.    Hold your hats, and tap those boots (or dance).  Playing at LFMC 9pm ish.  Finish off 2020 with a bit of a foot-stomper!   Our newsletter is out now.  Read it here.
