11 November 2022 – Butter Wouldn’t Melt

Butter Wouldn’t Melt consists of Nick Burfield, lead vocals, harmonies, and guitar; Andrea Reid, lead vocals, harmonies, guitar, dulcimer, whistles, and bodhran; and Derek Burfield on double bass.

Publicity material says “they will melt your heart with their soulful stories, vibrant voices, and far-away fables. They will be signing songs from their debut album 1931.

“Their original material is presented with a unique blend of dulcimer, whistles, guitar, double bass and soaring counter-melodies.

“Their sound is raw and familiar, yet still manages to surprise. Each song is filled with dancing harmonies and country and blues-inspired picking, creating an old-time vibe.”

“Butter Wouldn’t Melt sing of New Zealand history, long-lost lovers, fairy tales and distant serial-killer relatives.”

Doors open at 7:00 pm and the evening begins at 7:30 pm with a blackboard of performers. The guests perform after supper.

Admission, which includes a light supper, is $7 for members, $12 for non-members and $3 for students. Cash only (no eftpos facilities).

The venue is the Horowhenua Scottish Society Hall, 155 Bartholomew Road, corner Bartholomew Road and Middlesex Street, Levin.
