11 September 2026 – Dave Murphy and Janet Muggeridge

Together, Dave and Janet play their own brand of folk, originals, blues and americana.

As a couple, they combine a formidable musical skillset. Their sound is underpinned by Murphy’s driving fingerstyle acoustic guitar, and huge earthy vocals. Muggeridge adds spice to the mix with her unerring sense of harmony, and mandolin played in her own style.

Both are accomplished musicians in their own right.

Dave is considered a master of finger-style blues guitar, and a fine interpreter of the blues. Nic Bollinger considers him, “an icon in the NZ music scene”. He plays with The Red Dog Saloon Band based in Wellington.

Janet is a founding member of Gumboot Tango, the iconic kiwi band that plays kiwi covers. She often found singing BVs and playing mandolin for others when required. Expect a repertoire of songs that will have your emotions tugged every which way.

Doors open at 7:00 pm and the evening begins at 7:30 pm with a blackboard of performers, where there is an opportunity for musicians to put their name up for an item. The guests perform after supper and the drawing of the raffle.

Admission, which includes a light supper, is $10 for members, $15 for non-members; Students: Uni $10, College $5, Primary $3. Cash only (no eftpos facilities).

The venue is the Horowhenua Scottish Society Hall, 155 Bartholomew Road, corner Bartholomew Road and Middlesex Street, Levin. Come and enjoy a night of fun and music!
